Brief: Replace existing, obsolete worm gear drive with modern, efficient bevel helical drive
Application: Rubber Mill
Manufacturer: Shaw Robinson
Original Gearbox: Highfield Worm Gearbox. Type BS 3027 Size S14, Ratio 49/2.
Original Motor: Mathers & Platt Slip Ring Induction Motor. 30kW, C225M, 960rpm.
Reported Problem: Excessive gearbox running noise >97dB(A). Oil leaks.

Solution

New Gearbox PIV Triple Stage Bevel Helical Unit: Type Posired 2 – PLC22-R11-V11-25. Ratio 25.1:1, T2N = 16,800Nm.
Our Scope: Solution concept and design

Supply of gearbox, input coupling, adapter frame

Removal of existing and installation of updated

drive train including re-machining existing output coupling
Timescales: Design / Procurement = 10 weeks

Site work = 2 days
Result: Running noise <75dB(A)
